Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and maintain geospatial databases and data infrastructure.
- Oversee data acquisition, validation, and integration from various sources (eg, satellite imagery. GPS, surveys)
- Ensure date quality, security, and compliance with standards
- Conduct advanced spatial analysis and modelling to support urban planning and land valuation
- Develop geospatial models for land use, transport networks, environmental impact, and risk assessment
- Produce high-quality maps, dashboards, and spatial visualizations for internal and external stakeholders
- Customize GIS tools and applications for specific urban planning needs
- Lead geospatial components of urban development projects
- Collaborate with planners, surveyors, valuers, and IT teams to integrate GIS into workflows
- Train and mentor junior GIS staff and other departments on geospatial tools and data usage
- Provide technical support and guidance on GIS-related issues,
- Contribute to the development of geospatial data policies, standards, and strategies
- Advise on the use of geospatial technologies in urban governance and planning
- Liaise with government agencies, private sector, and community stakeholders on geospatial initiatives
- Represent the organization in technical forums and working groups.
- Performing any other duty as may be delegate from time to time.

Requirements for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan Citizen
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in GIS, preferably in an urban development context
- Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Information Systems, Geography, Urban Planning, Surveying, or related field
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), remote sensing tools, and spatial databases
- Experience with programming/scripting (e.g.. Python, SQL) and web GIS platforms
- Fulfils the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
