About the Role
Outspan Teaching and Referral Hospital (OTRH), a leading Level 5 Teaching and Referral Hospital within the Outspan Global health and education ecosystem, invites applications from qualified and motivated professionals to fill the position of General Surgeon at its Nyeri Branch.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage surgical patients
- Perform elective and emergency surgical procedures
- Conduct laparoscopic and gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures
- Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and on-call duties
- Teach, supervise, and mentor surgical residents and medical officers
- Participate in academic activities, clinical audits, and continuous medical education
- Support and participate in College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa training and supervision activities
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adherence to hospital protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)
- Master of Medicine in General Surgery or equivalent qualification
- Registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
- Fellowship training and/or involvement with College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa will be an added advantage
- Experience in managing, supervising, and training surgical residents
- Training and experience in laparoscopic surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures
- Proven experience in elective and emergency surgical procedures
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to quality patient care, teaching, and professionalism
