General Manager Branch Business Job NCBA

To provide powerful strategic regional branch leadership, deliver exceptional business growth through optimization of existing branch business channels and development of new business opportunities for all NCBA Bank products.

To champion the transformation of customer experience and controls to guarantee customer retention, a clean book and branch profitability.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Financial & Business Growth        

Strategy Planning and Execution – 20%

New Business Introduction, Commercialization and Financial Management – 40%  

  • Branch Expansion – Formulate & implement strategies that will support branch network expansion ensuring the new branches break even within the agreed timelines.
  • Business growth – Formulate strategies and plans for branch sales initiatives and market position alignment to Customer Value Propositions, Product and Segment areas in the region.
  • Market Positioning – Quarterly Branch & Market Review report from each BM hence a consolidated report for cluster.
  • Assume ownership on branch strategic initiatives and plans that will be aligned to the NCBA Bank products for all business units.
  • Assume ownership of branch initiatives that will focus on increasing effectiveness in the controls and customer experience.
  • The People Agenda – Create a Branch Scorecard performance based reward & recognition system for branch and branch staff – Quarterly & Yearly rewards. –
  • The People Agenda – come up with a training curriculum for all roles in branch (list of courses each role must cover to be fit for the role)
  • Come up with strategies aimed at cost minimization whilst ensuring service standards are not compromised.
  • Prepare business plans to ensure new revenue generation through opening up the markets for business opportunities for all NCBA Bank products. Overall branch profitability improvement and cost management.
  • Ensure Inputs to departmental budgets are submitted on a timely manner.
  • Ensure departmental financial targets are monitored and managed monthly, with reporting on variances against set targets.
  • Develop action plans for corrective action in all incidents of negative variance.

Internal business processes

Regional/Are a Leadership, Controls & People – 20%         

  • Build and develop a high performing and motivated team committed to achieving success. Ensure a good working environment for BMs within the region to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Establish a management and communications structure with respective branches in the area/ region to manage lead transformation, operational actions and execute all Branch business deliverables.
  • Ensure that all processes for transactions management, incident management, problem management and change management are drawn up, updated in a timely manner and adhered to.
  • Liaise with different business units to ensure that all processes for effective management of the different NCBA bank products are drawn up, updated in a timely manner and adhered to.
  • Ensure that all people management and operational risk management are drawn up and adhered to.
  • Adherence to branch structure and application of established policies, processes, procedures and tools in achieving compliance requirements, optimal efficiency, resource utilization and cost containment
  • Ensure regional meetings & visits are held to review branch performance progress and feedback is given and received from the BMs where necessary to improve performance.
  • Continuous monitoring and review of regional performance management.  Manage performance
  • /disciplinary issues/grievances for staff.

Customer Experience

Customer Management transformation – 10%     

  • Monitor branch TAT observance and customer service standards to achieve operational efficiencies
  • Ensure that all customer service management processes are drawn up and adhered to.
  • Develop initiatives within the branches that are geared towards increasing customer convenience.
  • Ensure all branches within the region are adhering to the set NCBA branch standards and service quality.

People management, Learning and growth            10%      

  • Ensure that branches are well resourced with adequate staff cover plan and succession planning is in place.
  • Leave management for self, direct reports and cluster staff.
  • Ensure cluster staff are well aligned with the NCBA values of Driven, Open, Responsive and Trusted.
  • Ensure E-learning & training for self and direct reports as per policy.

Qualifications:

Academic:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field or social sciences
  • MBA is an added advantage

Professional:

  • An accounting, Credit or risk related professional qualification is an added advantage

Desired work experience:

  • At least 12 years’ experience in the banking industry, 4 of which must have been in a senior management role
  • Proven track record of consistently exceeding set targets.
  • Strategy thinking.
