Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kenya for a Fisheries Technician. The Fisheries Technician will engage in field-based activities to support sustainable fisheries management and marine conservation initiatives. Day-to-day tasks include collecting and analyzing fisheries data, conducting field work, and assisting with community-based fisheries management projects. Collaboration with local coastal communities and other stakeholders to support sustainable ocean practices will be an integral part of this role.
Qualifications
- Expertise in fisheries-related domains, including Fisheries and Fisheries Management
- Knowledge or experience with fish behavior, populations, or related topics
- Hands-on experience in fishing practices and sustainable fishing techniques
- Proven ability to carry out field work, including data collection and community engagement
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including rural communities
- A background in marine biology, environmental science, or a related field is a plus
- Proficiency in reporting and documenting fisheries-related observations
