Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Service Technician to support the installation,
preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of currency handling and office automation equipment. The role is field-based and involves servicing banking, cash-in-transit, and corporate customer sites within Nairobi and the surrounding regions, ensuring high equipment uptime and adherence to service-level agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend on-site service calls and breakdowns in line with the assigned
• schedules and SLAs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults on assigned equipment.
• Carry out preventive maintenance as per OEM and contract guidelines.
• Install, commission, test, and hand over new machines at customer sites.
• Perform calibration, cleaning, and replacement of wear-and-tear parts.
• Provide basic operational guidance to end users during installations and service visits.
• Log all service activities accurately in the service management system.
• Prepare and submit service reports, job cards, and customer acknowledgements.
• Coordinate with helpdesk, spare-parts teams, and OEM technical support when required.
• Adhere strictly to safety standards, customer security protocols, and company SOPs.

Equipment Handled:

• Note counters and note sorters
• Coin counters and coin sorters
• Card printers
• Serial / passbook printers
• Shredders, Cheque scanners, and related office automation equipment

Required Skills & Technical Competencies:

• Strong hands-on knowledge of electromechanical systems, sensors, motors, belts, rollers, and PCBs.
• Experience in troubleshooting and calibration of currency handling machines.
• Ability to read and understand service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical bulletins.
• Basic computer skills for service reporting, configuration, and firmware updates.
• Good communication and customer-handling skills.
• Ability to work independently in a field service environment.

Qualifications (Kenya Standard):

• Diploma or Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline from a recognized Kenyan institution.
• KCSE Certificate with a minimum of D+ overall, including Mathematics and English.
• OEM or manufacturer technical training will be an added advantage.

Experience Required:

• Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant field service experience in currency handling machines or office automation equipment.
• Prior experience servicing banks, financial institutions, or cash-handling environments is preferred.
• Experience working under SLA-driven service operations is an advantage.

Compliance Requirements:

• Valid Certificate of Good Conduct (Police Clearance) issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kenya.
• Valid Kenyan National ID.
• Ability to meet customer background and security clearance requirements.
• Travel Requirements: Frequent travel within Nairobi and nearby counties.
• Occasional outstation travel may be required based on operational needs.
