As EV Maintenance Lead, you’ll be at the heart of that mission: keeping our customers’ vehicles on the road, safe, and performing at their best

The EV Maintenance Lead is responsible for running Kabisa’s EV maintenance operations day-to-day. You will be the main point of contact for customers with maintenance needs, manage a small team of technicians, coordinate with manufacturers and other garages, and make sure every car that comes in leaves fixed, safe, and ready for work. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role for someone who loves solving problems and building processes from the ground up.As EV Maintenance Lead, you are helping build one of the first dedicated EV maintenance operations in East Africa. You will:

  • Grow with the business: As Kabisa expands across Rwanda and the region, strong performers in this role can grow into senior leadership positions (e.g. Head of Maintenance, Regional Service Manager, or Technical Director).
  • Shape how EV maintenance is done in East Africa: You’ll help design the standards, processes, and best practices that other garages and partners will follow.
  • Work directly with founders and OEMs: You’ll have exposure to company leadership, manufacturers, and key partners, giving you a front-row seat to how a fast-growing EV business is built.

Customer & Operations Management

  • Be the main customer-facing contact for EV maintenance and repairs.
  • Manage incoming maintenance requests, schedule work, and keep customers updated on status and timelines.
  • “Get the job done” – ensure vehicles are repaired correctly, tested, and delivered back on time.

Technical & Diagnostic Work

  • Diagnose issues with electric and hybrid vehicles using available tools, software, and manuals.
  • Coordinate complex diagnostics and support with manufacturers and technical partners.
  • Document faults, repairs, and lessons learned to improve future diagnostics.

Team & Partner ManagementTeam & Partner Management

  • Lead, coach, and organize a group of technicians to deliver high-quality work efficiently.
  • Manage relationships with external maintenance providers and partner garages in Rwanda to extend Kabisa’s service reach.
  • Ensure safe working practices, quality standards, and cleanliness of the workshop.

Parts, Processes & Continuous Improvement

  • Manage spare parts orders, inventory levels, and stock accuracy to minimize vehicle downtime.
  • Liaise with manufacturers on warranties, technical bulletins, and recommended repair procedures.
  • Set up and continuously improve maintenance processes, checklists, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to make the maintenance operation more efficient, more reliable, and more profitable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues calmly and systematically.
  • Very organized, with the ability to manage multiple vehicles, tasks, and priorities at the same time.
  • Genuine excitement about electric vehicles and the future of clean mobility in Africa.
  • Proven experience with vehicle maintenance (EV and/or hybrid experience is a strong plus).
  • Comfortable speaking with customers and explaining technical issues in simple, clear language.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: proactive, resourceful, and happy to “figure it out” when there is no existing process.
  • Experience leading or coordinating a team of technicians or mechanics is an advantage.
  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, maintenance software) and willingness to learn new tools.
