Main Purpose
Supporting the Medical Coordinator through delegated tasks and responsibilities including defining, leading and coordinating the entire medical scope of the mission, according to MSF protocols, standards, policies and values, in order to ensure the quality of the medical care given to the targeted population and thus improving their overall health and living conditions. Fully assuming the medical coordinator’s responsibilities in case of absence
Responsibilities
- Review project medical strategy and specific department strategy documents including medical protocols/guidelines and give appropriate feedback to the team after the validation of the medical coordinator.
- Analyze project indicators quarterly through DHIS2 and SITREPs and plan specific support to the projects based on evidence/needs driven by data to ensure that the right decisions are made at the right time.
- Review annual and mid-year reports for the mission and projects and update the medical components of the reports in collaboration with PMRs and Medco.
- Participate and contribute to mission Plan of actions (POA), Mid-year reviews and other strategic mission activities.
- Supporting the medical team at coordination and projects to develop objectives and strategies for medical activities and monitor progress based on POA/MYR approved activities.
- Conduct Field visits and support monitoring of medical activities.
- Provide support to teams in the implementation and monitoring of the roadmap to enhance the quality of care, with particular focus on the Dagahaley project.
- Ensure regular follow-up of PSI reporting and audits across both projects, with a view to strengthening the quality of activities through systematic review of reports and close monitoring of the implementation of recommendations/ feedback
- Actively participate in the implementation and monitoring of the new Mombasa project cycle
- Ensure, as part of the EPREP response and in coordination with the MEDCO, an appropriate response aligned with the defined thresholds, based on the continuous monitoring of epidemiological and medical surveillance data.
- Take medical lead in initial phase of Explos, develop intervention concept notes/proposal and set up new activities as agreed by the mission.
- In charge of delivering medical briefings outlining the objectives and activities of the project.
- Responsible for preparing and ensuring follow-up on the medical coordination biweekly meeting reports form.
- Actively contributes to the monitoring and validation of medical orders for the project, ensuring coordination in alignment with actual needs.
Qualifications
- Education: Essential: Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Desirable: Training in Tropical Medicine or Public Health
- Languages : English Essential & Swahili Desirable
