The Cook I, KEWI 10 reports to the Senior Cook, KEWI 9.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

  • Ensuring proper storage of food stuffs;
  • Setting up of food service areas and placement of food in serving lines;
  • Supervising and replenishing food stuffs during service;
  • Recording and reporting low stock levels;
  • Detecting and reporting spoilt or unattractive food; and
  • Detecting and reporting defective equipment.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

  • Served for a cumulative period of six (6) years relevant work experience of, three (3) at the grade of Cook II or in a comparable position;
  • Certificate in any of the following Courses: – Food Production, Food and Beverage Production, Catering and Hotel Management or equivalent qualification lasting not less than six (6) months from a recognised institution;
  • Certificate of medical examination in line with the Food, Drugs and Chemical Substance Act;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

In addition to the above indicated requirements, applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
The following clearances will be required from successful candidates upon offer of job and not at the application stage.

  • Certificate of Good Conduct;
  • Clearance from the Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission;
  • Certificate of Compliance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Clearance; and
  • Certificate of Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
