Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Assist in preparing ingredients for a variety of Continental dishes, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring spices.
  • Execute cooking tasks under the supervision of senior chefs, ensuring dishes are prepared to recipe specifications and quality standards.
  • Plate and garnish dishes attractively and consistently in accordance with presentation standards.

Recipe Execution

  • Follow detailed recipes and cooking techniques accurately to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and appearance of each dish.
  • Maintain proper portion control and avoid food wastage by strictly adhering to standard recipes and preparation methods.

Kitchen Hygiene & Food Safety

  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout service, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Properly store raw and cooked food, ensuring correct labelling, storage temperatures, and FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
  • Regularly sanitize surfaces, utensils, and kitchen equipment before, during, and after food preparation.

Stock Management & Inventory

  • Assist in the unpacking, inspection, and proper storage of kitchen deliveries, ensuring freshness and quality of all ingredients.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages or spoilage to the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef in a timely manner.
  • Ensure minimal wastage by using ingredients efficiently and creatively.

Team Support

  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations during service.
  • Assist senior chefs during peak service times and take over delegated responsibilities in their absence.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for menu development, kitchen improvements, or workflow enhancements.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Culinary certificate or diploma is an added advantage
  • Proven experience and skill in preparing Continental cuisine
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well under pressure
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a team-player mindset
