Role Purpose Statement
Under the general direction and guidance of the Manager Line Maintenance, the Cabin Lead is responsible for carrying out and certifying inspection, repair, replacement, and modification tasks on aircraft structures & aircraft cabin systems. This role involves performing certification within his/her scope of approval in accordance with KCAA and company regulations, optimizing costs for the business while upholding high safety standards to maintain schedule integrity.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Carry out and certify all inspection, repair, replacement, and modification tasks on aircraft structures & aircraft cabin systems.
- Perform certification within his/her scope of approval in accordance with KCAA and company regulations at an optimized cost for the business whilst upholding high safety standards to maintain schedule integrity.
- Assess defects on aircraft, organize workstations, troubleshoot, and rectify.
- Assign duties to the support staff verifying their relevant competencies for the task at hand to ensure efficiency.
- Ensure all task handovers are done at the end of the shift.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance checks, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives tasks and certify within the scope of approval for safe and timely release of aircraft within planned downtime for continued airworthiness.
- Carry out and certify maintenance on cabin utilities for customer satisfaction and comfort.
- Inspect structural damage, update dent and buckle charts, and carry out or coordinate structural repairs with partner MROs.
- Identify and requisition required parts and tools as per planned maintenance ground times.
- Carry out and certify duplicate inspections on safety-critical systems of the aircraft and engines within the scope of approval to ensure system integrity.
- Communicate at various levels and coordinate with other areas over technical issues to ensure all relevant parties are aware of the aircraft’s serviceability status.
- Report incidents/accidents occurrences as per company procedures.
- Ensure that maintenance tasks, defects, and component changes are recorded accurately on both paper and IT systems & signed for to maintain correct and up-to-date aircraft history/data.
- Adhere to the company SHE policy, MPM, TPM, MCM, AMM, and all relevant maintenance manuals.
- Care for and safeguard company tools and maintenance equipment.
- Carry out security checks as per engineering security document procedures.
- Supervise cabin and structures technicians and develop technicians for improved competency/efficiency.
- Ensure that cabin parts stock is ordered as per the cabin surveys to meet the cabin maintenance demands.
- Ensure aircraft dent and buckle charts are updated at all times.
- Ensure that cabin defects are tracked accurately and closed to meet seat availability as per planned operations schedule.
Know-How
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of airframe and cabin aircraft systems, evidenced by the fleet PLG. Requires a technical background in aircraft maintenance. Expertise in aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Management Skills: Ability to assign duties to support staff, supervise technicians, and work under time pressure to maintain flight schedules. The role also requires leadership qualities.
- Human Relations Skills: Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with other areas over technical issues to inform relevant parties of the aircraft’s serviceability status. The individual should be a strong team player.
- Specialized Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, inspection and troubleshooting techniques, combined with a deep understanding of safety and security standards, KCAA regulations, human factors knowledge, and aircraft maintenance manuals.

- Thinking Environment: Detail-oriented and safety-critical, requiring adherence to strict standards. The environment is also time-pressured to maintain flight schedules/agility.Thinking Challenge: Balancing efficient maintenance work with rigorous safety and regulatory compliance. The Cabin Lead must also make decisions on risk tolerability when safety risks and security threats are acceptable in maintenance operations.

- Magnitude: The role has a direct impact on meeting safety standards and business needs, including the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of the aircraft.
- Impact of Decisions: Decisions made by the Cabin Lead directly affect aircraft safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with KCAA and company regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of Diploma/Degree in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university.
- Experience: At least 5 years of working experience in aircraft maintenance in an AMO/MRO.
- Certifications: Holder of a KCAA License.
