We are looking for an Assistant HSE Coordinator in our HSEQ Department with at least 2 years’ experience, preferably in the Construction/Oil & gas Industry.

Job Role Summary:

The Assistant HSE Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures. The role ensures compliance with legal and regulatory standards, including Kenya’s OSH 2007 Act, ISO 45001, and NEMA guidelines. The HSE officer will create a safety culture, mitigate risks, and ensure adherence to environmental and occupational health standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and enforcing HSEQ management systems, ensuring compliance with OSH 2007, ISO 45001, and NEMA.
  • Investigating incidents, prepare reports, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Providing training on safety standards and risk management.
  • Conducting risk assessments and job safety analysis (JSA) for company projects.
  • Managing waste and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Preparing monthly HSEQ reports, track audits, and document safety performance.
  • Assisting management in the regular inspection of workplaces to ensure safe and healthy conditions for workers and preparing appropriate notices for management to issue for abatement of any identified hazards.
  • Have authority to receive, review, accept work permits and stop any unsafe work
  • Implementing environmental policies and practices
  • Devising strategies to meet targets and to encourage best practices

Keeping up to date with relevant changes in EHS legislation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field.
  • Must have 2 – 3years’ experience in Occupational Safety & Health and Environmental field
  • Knowledge of Kenyan HSEQ laws and international standards (ISO 45001, OSH 2007).
  • Must be have working knowledge of MS Office
  • Must have proven leadership record

Budget for the role is 30 – 45k Gross.
