Reporting to the Specialist, Strategic Risk, this role will support in the implementation of FSD Africa Investments (FSDAi) Risk Management Strategy, including the Board-approved Risk Appetite Framework across the existing portfolio and pipeline opportunities. The job holder will also support the Principal, Legal Advisor and the legal team in structuring, launching, managing investments, complying with regulatory requirements, and addressing risk related to legal matters in investment management.

The Analyst, Risk is responsible for supporting the risk team in conducting pre- and post-investment risk assessment and monitoring that contributes to FSDAi’s development mandate and underpins the rationale for FSDAi investments. This includes regular risk analysis, monitoring market conditions, economic indicators, and other factors that may impact FSDAi’s corporate and portfolio performance. The role also supports the legal team with legal matters of FSDAi and FSD Africa as needed.

  • Reports directly to: Specialist, Strategic Risk
  • Reports indirectly to: Associate, Portfolio Risk
  • Corporate Risk Management: Conduct market research, analyse investment and financial information, and support implementation of risk frameworks and policies.
  • Portfolio Risk Management: Support due diligence, risk input for investment proposals, and post-investment risk monitoring.
  • Investment-Specific Compliance: Monitor compliance with reporting timelines, KYC fulfilment, and legal risk tracking.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building: Maintain productive relationships with consultants and stakeholders, and engage with internal teams for knowledge sharing.

Person Specifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience or Higher Diploma with 3 years of experience.
  • Relevant professional or post-graduate qualification in risk management is an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of risk management experience in a financial institution, consultancy, or law firm.
  • Strong skills in risk analysis, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Desirable: Experience in multi-cultural environments, donor-funded projects, or legal profession in corporate finance and investments.
  • Languages: French or local African languages are a plus.
