Accounts Assistant Job

The role is responsible for supporting the Finance & Accounting functions of the Group. The role also includes credit control responsibilities to ensure timely collection of receivables.

Key result areas

  • Transaction processing
  • Billing and reconciliation
  • Management Reporting and Annual Financial Reporting
  • Expense tracking

Transaction processing

  • Record financial transactions in the accounting system;
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable as per the relevant policies

Billing and reconciliations

  • Perform billings and ensure collections as appropriate.
  • Monitor customer accounts and take relevant actions to recover the outstanding amounts.
  • Prepare and send out monthly statements of accounts to customers
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or disputes
  • Communicate with customers regarding their payment status and ensure timely collections
  • Maintain accurate records of collections, follow-ups and communications with debtors
  • Generate aged debtors reports and escalate unresolved debts for further action

Financial and Management Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly management reports
  • Support in the audit and preparation of annual financial reports
  • Support budget preparation and forecasting

Tax and administrative support

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare statutory filings
  • Maintain proper records for tax audits and inspections
  • Maintain organised and accurate financial and credit control filing systems
  • Respond to internal and external financial and credit-related inquiries
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance department
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisors

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • CPA/ACCA qualification

Experience:

  • 1 – 3 years of experience in accounting, including credit control experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software/ERP
  • Knowledge of IFRS, tax laws and regulations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
