6 Ways to Enhance Your Microsoft Excel Skills in 2022

1. Use Shortcuts

Instead of dragging over the cells manually, select by holding down Ctrl + Shift then press up arrow or arrow to highlight the data in a column but if you want to select everything in a row then press the left or right arrow.

Microsoft has a list of Excel keyboard shortcuts hence you should take time to learn them. Familiarize yourself with functions for copying and pasting, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, undo using Ctrl+Z and use Ctrl+K to insert hyperlinks.

2. Hide Or Unhide Important Data

If you want to remove a column or row without deleting it completely then it is easy. Select and click the letter or number header, right-click, and click hide.

If you want to reverse then select the columns or rows of the hidden one, right-click, then select Unhide.

3. Import Your Data Correctly The First Time

Excel allows you to import data from different sources. Import the data properly for you to create a drop-down list from it. If there are complex data, don’t copy-paste, use external options in the data tab where you can see the menu.

Advanced Excel skills allow you to convert data from the website to a worksheet, click file > Import External Data then click New Web Query.

4. Transfer Excel Data Into Microsoft Word

If you need a chart, a table, or other graphical representation in your word document. Select insert from the word > Object, choose the Excel chart you want, and click insert.

Check the link to the file box so that in case the original data in the Excel spreadsheet change, it will automatically update in word.

5. Display Excel Spreadsheet Formulas

If a spreadsheet has been created by someone else, you can easily find the formulas used. Click the Show Formulas button or press Ctrl + ` on the keyboard to check the formulas used in the workbook.

6. Copy Data From Worksheets

If you have data that is scattered in different tabs. Open the worksheet with data that you want, press Ctrl then clicks on the worksheet to be copied to. Press F2, then Enter. This will re-enter the data in the cell.
