Specialized Technician NGO Job MSF

Main purpose of the Position:
Perform specific works related to the technician’s specialization in plumbing, in addition to work in general construction and repairs according to logistics supervisor’s instructions and MSF procedures, in order to ensure proper maintenance and functioning of MSF equipment, installations and infrastructures.

Tasks & Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Do all necessary repair, maintenance and construction work, according to his/her specialization (i.e. plumbing, electricity, carpentry, boreholes, radios, computers, etc.)
- Perform any tests needed after any repair or maintenance.
- Work in support of, and in collaboration with other specialized technicians and workers. Demonstrate the ability to share knowledge and learn new skills outside of their specialist trade.
- In collaboration and partnership with the other specialized technician, ensure that there are adequate stocks of consumables and materials for minor repairs, and manage those stocks by placing orders in good time.
- Work closely with the Logistics Supervisor and the other Specialized Technician to ensure the efficient allocation and scheduling of daily, weekly and monthly workload.
- Keep specialized technician working area clean and tidy.
- Look after all equipment and tools provided, ensuring tools are clean, serviceable and in a state of readiness
- Ensure correct use of fire extinguishers as well as know where they are located
- Ensure that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed and up to date.
- Prepare needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
- Ensure that his/her line manager is informed of any problems that might be linked to MSF premises.
- Make suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF premises.
- Assist the logistics department for any related work needed.
- Immediately inform his/her line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins.
- Provide operational cover for the other Specialized Technician during times of Leave or, absence.
Obligations:
- To report on any events that threaten or favour the program
- To abide by the MSF Staff regulations and MSF Charter
- To maintain confidentiality with respect to MSF’S Operational and patient activities and internal information pertaining to budgets, strategies, etc.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- Essential diploma or recognized formal training in the assigned technical area – Plumbing
Knowledge & Experience
- Must Demonstrate experience in his/her technical area
- Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries is desirable.
- Desirable Computer Literacy (Word, Excel)
- Desirable ability to do basic repairs
