Intern -Health Policy & Management Job Roche
Medical Jobs, Roche Jobs.
As an intern, you will contribute to a project focused on transforming residual plasma from blood screening workflows into a resource that can support life-saving plasma-derived therapies in Africa. The project aims to explore how blood services in selected countries can move from a test-and-discard model to a more circular and financially sustainable approach by recovering screened plasma for downstream pharmaceutical use. Within your first 3 months, you are expected to help map blood screening workflows in Kenya, Zambia, and Tanzania, estimate lost plasma volumes and their potential value, develop a Circular Diagnostics Framework, build a financial sustainability model, and contribute to a pilot roadmap with strategic recommendations. Your work will support Roche’s sustainability ambitions by advancing circular healthcare, strengthening blood bank resilience, and improving access to plasma-derived medicinal products. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of diagnostics, sustainability, and global health in a highly meaningful regional context.
Responsibilities
- Map blood screening workflows and plasma handling practices in Kenya, Zambia, and Tanzania
- Analyze how residual plasma is generated, managed, and currently discarded across selected blood services
- Estimate plasma volumes currently lost after screening using available operational data and secondary research
- Assess the potential value of recovered plasma for use in plasma-derived medicinal products
- Develop a Circular Diagnostics Framework linking Roche screening technologies, including NAT, with plasma recovery pathways
- Build a financial model showing how plasma recovery could generate revenue to support blood bank operations and NAT sustainability
- Conduct a regulatory and market assessment for plasma recovery and fractionation in selected markets
- Prepare a final report and presentation with strategic recommendations and a pilot roadmap for Roche
Qualifications
You are enrolled or have completed your Master’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of Public Health, Health Economics, Biomedical Sciences / Life Sciences, or Health Policy & Management within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.
Furthermore, you are:
- Strong in analytical work and comfortable using Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools for data analysis and modeling
- Experienced in data analysis and financial modeling, with an interest in healthcare systems, public health, or life sciences
- Familiar with health economics, market analysis, or public health research methods
- Able to synthesize complex information into structured insights and clear presentations
- A structured, independent, and collaborative communicator with strong English skills
