Curator/medicinal Garden Horticulturalist Job KU

  • University degree or equivalent in Taxonomy, botany or plant sciences
  • Demonstrable Knowledge of Kenyan biodiversity and indigenous medicinal plants
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in herbarium preservation techniques and database management
  • Demonstrated experience in medicinal plant propagation and processing
  • Computer literacy.
  • Managing and maintaining the university's medicinal garden.
  • Propagate and maintain living collections of medicinal plants in the medicinal garden
  • Assisting in the identification and classification of medicinal plants for research purposes.
  • Train and supervise students and technicians in herbarium practices, specimen curation and propagation, and processing of medicinal plants
  • Facilitate departmental research by preparing specimens and providing taxonomic identifications
  • Conduct field expeditions to collect medicinal plant vouchers
  • Curating the departmental herbarium, including the collection and preservation of plant specimens.
