Job Summary
The Busbar Processing Technician will be responsible for the fabrication, modification, and assembly of copper and aluminium busbars used in electrical switchboards and power distribution systems. The role requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of electrical clearances, current ratings, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, cut, bend, punch, drill, and assemble copper and aluminium busbars according to engineering drawings.
- Interpret busbar layout drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Operate busbar processing machinery including punching, bending, and cutting equipment.
- Ensure correct dimensional tolerances, alignment, and surface finishing.
- Maintain required electrical clearances and creepage distances.
- Perform quality inspections and measurements using appropriate tools.
- Assist with busbar installation into switchboards and panel assemblies.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean working environment.
Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in busbar fabrication or a similar role within switchboard manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems and busbar design principles.
- Experience working with copper and aluminium conductors.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience operating busbar punching, cutting, and bending machines.
- Knowledge of electrical standards relating to busbar spacing, insulation, and fault levels.
- High level of precision and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of workshop safety practices.
