Job Purpose

This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in a given field. This will be the entry grade for Masters’ degree holders into this cadre.

  • Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
  • Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and national and international learned conferences.
  • Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
  • Write proposals for research and development funding.
  • Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies.
  • Lead and coordinate research activities in their subject areas.
  • Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
  • Participate in curriculum development and review.
  • Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
  • Examination preparation, administration, and management.
  • Participate in administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
  • Undertake community outreach activities.
  • Where appropriate, provide leadership in the department or school.
  • Participate in the development and review of academic programmes.
  • Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
  • Perform any other related duty assigned from time to time.
  • Evidence of or registration for PhD.
  • An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited and recognized University.
  • At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
  • Be registered with relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
  • Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
  • Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Tenure of Service

  • The position of Tutorial Fellow shall be on contract terms.

Only successful candidates shall be required to submit valid clearances from the following bodies;

  1. Kenya Revenue Authority
  2. Higher Education Loans Board
  3. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
  4. Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Certificate of Good Conduct)
  5. Registered Credit Reference Bureau
  • They should also provide names, telephone numbers and contact addresses of three (3) referees.
  • Applicants should request their referees to submit their confidential reports as soft copy in PDF to the undersigned
