Duties and responsibilities

• Operate and maintain big data platforms to ensure high availability and performance
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in production data pipelines and jobs.
• Work closely with data scientists, and other key stakeholders to understand business data needs and ensure the infrastructure supports business analytical requirements.
• Monitor and optimize performance of big data systems and ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.
• Implement and enforce data security and privacy measures in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning of data infrastructure.
• Maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to ensure operational visibility and accountability
• Develop and maintain documentation for data operations, workflows, and runbooks.
• Utilize latest big data tools and technologies, learn and adapt to use of new solution tools as they become available.

Qualifications

For appointment to this job, the candidate must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
• Membership to a relevant professional body.

Demonstrate Technical  proficiency in the following knowledge areas:-

• ETL and building functional data pipelines.
• Database management systems.
• Scripting languages and workflow orchestration tools
• Big data tools and technologies
• Data visualization tools Data lakes, data lake houses and data warehouses.
• Tools for metadata management and data cataloging.
• Cloud-based data platforms Data governance frameworks, security protocols, and privacy regulations.
