Role Summary
Our client is one of the leading motorcycle dealers in Kenya, seeking to hire a Senior Corporate Affairs Officer. The department is responsible for managing legal risks, drafting and reviewing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, safeguarding intellectual property, and advising management on compliance. It plays a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making, mitigating liabilities, and fostering a culture of integrity across all business operations
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement compliance checks and monitoring plans, track obligations against the regulatory calendar.
- Attend Court, prepare pleadings and conduct legal research.
- Maintain and manage litigation register and tracker.
- Draft, review, and negotiate standard and moderately complex contracts using approved templates.
- Provide timely advisory on routine legal queries; escalate complex risks and disputes.
- Maintain contract tracker and data for renewals, expiries, and obligations; ensure timely alerts.
- Execute compliance checks and prepare reports,
- Compile audit findings, quantify impact, and agree corrective actions with process owners.
- Liaise with regulators and industry bodies for routine correspondence and information requests.
- Facilitate internal awareness sessions on compliance and governance.
- Produce monthly dashboards on compliance, contract cycle times, audit remediation, and governance actions; ensure data integrity and version control.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in law.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience
- Postgraduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law
- Valid practicing certificate for Law Society of Kenya
- Must be an advocate of the high court of Kenya
- Experience in corporate set up will be an added advantage.
- Ability to use applicable software
- Good communication, presentation and reporting skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of business laws and regulations.
- Basic understanding of wider departmental processes
