Senior Accountant Job Mini Group

Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Accountant will oversee the hospital’s accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with healthcare-specific requirements, and timely payroll disbursements. This role is critical in maintaining strong internal controls over revenue and expenditures while collaborating closely with hospital administration, patient billing, and clinical departments.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger and oversee timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, revenue accounts, and balance sheet items.
  • Provide management accounts and operational financial insights to hospital leadership.

Revenue Cycle & Billing Management

  • Oversee patient billing, insurance claims, and corporate client invoicing.
  • Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition from consultations, diagnostics, procedures, and pharmacy services.
  • Monitor revenue discrepancies and coordinate their resolution.

Receivables & Payables Management

  • Monitor insurance, corporate, and patient receivables.
  • Oversee accounts payable for suppliers, service providers, and vendors.

Payroll Management

  • Process hospital payroll accurately and on schedule.
  • Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions including PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, and other mandated contributions.
  • Prepare payroll-related statutory returns and maintain compliance records.

Internal Controls & Budgeting

  • Maintain strong financial controls over patient billing, cash collections, and pharmacy inventory.
  • Support the preparation of departmental budgets and provide variance analysis of expenditures.
  • Supervise, train, and guide the finance, billing, and payroll staff.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA (K), ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a healthcare or hospital environment.
  • Proven experience in revenue cycle management, insurance claims, and hospital billing systems.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and financial software.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP standards and healthcare-specific tax regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
