Job Purpose

To support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of hospital research projects by coordinating data collection, documentation, reporting, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners, ensuring ethical, transparent, and efficient research operations.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Research Officer, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

  • Participating in project planning activities such as operational planning and budgeting.
  • Developing project proposals and related documentation.
  • Collaborating with partners to develop work plans, where necessary.
  • Collecting and computing research data.
  • Monitoring and evaluating ongoing research projects.
  • Coordinating and maintaining master files for clinical research conducted within the hospital.
  • Coordinating with partners and internal teams to facilitate capacity-building training sessions.
  • Preparing project documentation and research reports for management review.
  • Ensuring transparency, ethical conduct, and operational efficiency during project implementation.
  • Reporting on project activities and expenditures as required according to the project schedule.
  • Preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports.
  • Organizing and participating in periodic project meetings.
  • Collaborating with research teams to document project achievements.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned.

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Sciences, Public Health, or any other Health Science related field from a recognized institution.
  • Evidence of participation in research projects and publications.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
