Job Purpose

To support the pharmacist in preparing, dispensing, and managing medications while ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient pharmaceutical services in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Dispensing & Medication Management

  • Accurately prepare and dispense prescribed medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Label medicines correctly with clear dosage and usage instructions.
  • Check prescriptions for completeness and legality before dispensing.
  • Provide basic guidance to patients on medication use as directed by the pharmacist.

Stock Control & Inventory

  • Monitor pharmacy stock levels and ensure adequate supply of medicines and consumables.
  • Receive, record, and store incoming stock properly according to guidelines (FEFO/FIFO).
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile physical stock with system records.
  • Report near-expiry, expired, or damaged medicines promptly.
  • Prepare and submit timely requisitions to avoid stock-outs.

Pharmacy Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and proper arrangement of medicines in the pharmacy.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, controlled drugs compliance).
  • Assist in documentation and record-keeping as required by regulations.
  • Support implementation of pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Regulatory & Safety Compliance

  • Adhere to Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations and professional ethics.
  • Ensure controlled drugs are handled, recorded, and stored according to legal requirements.
  • Follow infection prevention and patient safety protocols at all times.

Customer Service

  • Attend to patients professionally, respectfully, and confidentially.
  • Address basic medication inquiries and refer complex issues to the pharmacist.
  • Promote rational drug use and patient adherence to treatment.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate dispensing records and stock movement logs.
  • Assist in preparing pharmacy reports when required.
  • Report discrepancies, medication errors, or incidents immediately.

Team Support

  • Work collaboratively with pharmacists, clinicians, nurses, and other staff.
  • Assist in training or mentoring junior staff or students when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Registered and licensed with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
  • Valid practicing license.

  • Based in the pharmacy department.
  • May be required to work shifts, weekends, or public holidays depending on duty roster.
