A recovery officer will be responsible for managing and overseeing the collection of overdue loans and debts. Their primary role is to minimize losses for the institution by recovering outstanding payments from borrowers who have defaulted or are at risk of defaulting on their loans.

  • Ensure targets are met in minimizing credit losses and maximizing recoveries
  • Provide timely feedback concerning customers payments behavior to management and the business strategies
  • Contacting defaulting customers either calling or visiting them with a view of negotiating a settlement
  • Work closely with BDO/CO on their bad debts%u2019 portfolios
  • Attend regular queries from business and customers on a day-to-day basis
  • Preparing, analyzing and submitting regular reports in relation to overdue accounts, recovery plans and risk exposures.
  • Identifying, assessing, and evaluating risk areas in recovery and making appropriate recommendation
  • Contact defaulting customers by calling and visiting them with an aim of negotiating settlement of the arrears
  • Investigate and resolve any customer queries and complaints through verbal or written correspondence in line with Tenakata policies
  • Identify and escalate deceased or disabled customers to collections management for review or collection termination
  • Perform field visits and submit reports/action plans to recover debt
  • Achieve the monthly and daily collection targets.
  • Work closely with the Branch and the Collections department on the bad debt portfolio perform field visits and submit reports/action plans to recover debt
  • Diploma or Bachelor/degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, Banking, credit management or any other related degree
  • Credit Operations & SME evaluation experiences from a financial institution or Fintech environment.
  • Professional qualifications in Credit Management (Certified Credit Professional) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years%u2019 relevant experience in credit recoveries.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills, focused, self-driven and attentive to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Financial industry in Kenya and East Africa in General
