Job Summary

The Mentorship Programming Assistant will be responsible for providing oversight and coordination of all mentorship programs within the organization. This role will ensure that mentorship initiatives are effectively implemented, monitored, and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives. The assistant will support the design, planning, and execution of mentorship activities, facilitate linkages between mentors and mentees, and track program outcomes to ensure quality and impact. A key focus of the role is to promote girls’ agency by creating safe, supportive, and inspiring mentorship spaces that foster confidence, leadership, and personal growth among girls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for identifying mentors with relevant expertise and experience based on the
    needs of the participants and the SGF strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and the mentorship unit to define the mentor’s qualifications and identification criteria.
  • Review mentor applications, conduct interviews, and assess mentor suitability.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with mentors, program participants, and community stakeholders.
  • Organize events and activities to foster mentor-mentee relationships and community engagement.
  • Gather feedback from mentors and participants to inform program improvements.
  • In collaboration with the MEARL team, we conduct mentorships baseline, midline, and endline surveys to inform the program.
  • Develop and implement a system for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of mentorship programs, working in collaboration with the MEARL team.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on mentorship activities, outcomes, and impact.
  • Document and share success stories and best practices to showcase the impact of mentorship.
  • Maintain a database of all the mentorship sessions covered by participants.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in mentorship program management, community development, or youth services.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, especially working with mentors, program participants, and community
    organizations.
  • Experience in program design and implementation, particularly in areas related to personal development, career coaching, or youth leadership.
  • Hands-on experience with participant assessment, goal setting, and monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience conducting interviews and assessing candidates (e.g., mentors, program participants).
