Duties and Responsibilities 

This is the entry grade into the Medical Engineering Technologists cadre.

Duties at this level involve:-

• undertaking preventive maintenance and repairs of medical/hospital equipment, plants, furniture and instruments;
• carrying out minor repairs of health facilities and utilities;
• ordering for spare parts and consumables; taking/maintaining inventory of medical/hospital;
• equipment, furniture and plants;
• collating and compiling information for research;
• collating and compiling information on medical engineering services for input into the Health information management system; and implementing medical engineering programmers’ and projects;
• Equipment fault diagnosis and basic repair and maintenance;
• appreciating the principle of operation of the standard equipment in most health institutions.

Requirements for Appointment 

For appointment to this grade of Medical Engineering Technologist III, a candidate must:-

• Have Ordinary Diploma Certificate in Medical Engineering from a recognized institution.

 OR

• Have successfully completed an ordinary Diploma course in Electrical, Electronics or Medical Engineering from a recognized institution and also be ready to undertake a one year work experience in Medical Engineering or Health Technology related field.
