Our client is a growing technology brand delivering educational and creative devices; including tablets and smart screens to young learners and families. They are seeking a Market Developer to drive the company to the next stage of expansion through channel development, strategic partnerships, and high-impact go-to-market campaigns.

The Market Developer will play a key role in expanding market reach, unlocking new distribution channels, and building long-term partnerships with key players in the education, retail, and NGO sectors. This is a strategic and executional role, ideal for someone with experience in scaling products in emerging markets.

Responsibilities:

Distribution & Channel Expansion

  • Identify new distribution opportunities beyond current retail footprint (e.g., retail store, bookstores, supermarkets, edtech partners, NGO programs, government buyers).
  • Develop and test entry strategies for each channel (pilot offers, joint marketing, and retail activations).
  • Source and evaluate potential partners or distributors across Nairobi and other key regions.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Build and pitch compelling partnership proposals to retailers, school suppliers, and institutional buyers.
  • Lead negotiations and onboarding of new resellers, with a focus on long-term relationships.
  • Manage and grow a database of partners, tracking outreach, engagements, and conversions.

Campaigns & Lead Generation

  • Plan and execute B2B growth campaigns to generate leads and secure new partnerships.
  • Collaborate with design and digital teams to create marketing and sales enablement materials.
  • Represent the organisation at industry events, expos, or meetings to drive brand visibility.

Data & Reporting

  • Track partner performance, sales per channel, and cost of acquisition.
  • Optimize campaigns and outreach based on data insights.
  • Provide monthly growth reports to the leadership team.
  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related Field
  • 3+ years’ experience in growth marketing, business development, channel sales, or strategic partnerships
  • Proven ability to identify, approach, and close deals with B2B partners
  • Deep knowledge of Kenya’s retail or education ecosystem
  • Highly organized and goal-oriented, with a bias for execution
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Experience in hardware, edtech, FMCG, or distribution-based industries
  • Familiarity with tools like Odoo, Trello, or any CRM
  • Prior experience working in a startup or fast-growing business
