Litigation Clerk Job

  • Carry out searches in various registries to confirm parties to suits.
  • Draft pleadings and other documents for review by the Advocates.
  • Assist the Advocates in searching, collating, and photocopying supporting documents and attaching them to pleadings.
  • File pleadings in the Courts.
  • Serve pleadings, summons, other documents, and letters to parties and/or parties’ Advocates.
  • Follow up on matters pending in court, such as decrees, judgements, summons, notices, etc., to keep track when they are to be delivered.
  • Collect such decrees, judgements, summons, and deliver them to the relevant advocate in the Firm for further action.
  • Extract Orders as directed by the Advocate.
  • Fix dates for Hearing and Mention of matters in Courts.
  • Attend Court to get an Advocate to hold brief on matters as instructed.
  • Follow up with the Court registry to locate court files.
  • Draft letters to clients to inform them of the hearing or mention dates set for their matters for review and signing by the Advocates.
  • Update Advocate’s diaries and the Firm’s master diary with Hearing/Mention dates as set in the Courts.
  • Prepare the Courts’ Cause List and share with the Advocates.
  • Prepare reports on the position of matters, including those pending for execution, and send them to the Advocates handling matters.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Partners and other supervisors in the Firm.
  • A Diploma in Legal Studies or Paralegal Studies from a reputable institution in Kenya.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a busy law firm as a litigation clerk.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimum score of Grade C+ in KCSE.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
