Tutorial Fellow/Lecturer in Journalism & Mass Communication Job UEAB

Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate:

  • A lecturer must be a holder of an earned PhD in Journalism, Mass Communication or equivalent qualifications from an accredited/recognized university.
  • A tutorial fellow must be a holder of master’s degree in journalism or mass communication preferably enrolled for a PhD program;
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with at least a G.P.A. of 3.0/4.0 or higher or Second-Class Upper Division from an accredited/recognized university.
  • Must have a KCSE with at least C+ or its equivalent qualification;
  • Must be a Christian in good and regular standing;
  • Must be accredited by the Media Council of Kenya (active membership for 2024)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To teach undergraduates within the department of Humanities and Social Sciences and other programs which have relevant course requests.
  • Plan and conduct research and grant writing activities
  • Develop teaching materials for blended learning.
  • Participate in the preparation of departmental plans and documents;
  • Attend and participate in seminars, workshops and conferences in the relevant field;
  • Participate in planning, designing, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the department.
  • Participate and contribute to the department/school meetings, and other departmental/school activities.
  • Be an Academic Adviser to students by providing mentorship and career guidance;
  • A lecturer should be able to assist in the supervision of Tutorial Fellows when they are teaching undergraduate students;
  • Set, process, moderate, administer and mark examinations and other assignments.
  • Perform any other duties which may be assigned or delegated by the University administration.
