The HR Manager/Officer will oversee and manage the end-to-end Human Resource function within the organization. This role is responsible for aligning HR strategies with business objectives to support a high-performance culture, while ensuring compliance with Kenyan labor laws. The position is critical in managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, and HR administration in a growing financial services environment.

  • Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes (advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, reference checks, onboarding).
  • Support workforce planning to align staffing with business needs.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee queries, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure compliance with the Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, OSHA, and other applicable Kenyan laws.
  • Draft, update, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Implement and maintain a performance appraisal system to drive accountability and productivity.
  • Provide coaching and support to line managers on performance management practices.
  • Monitor probation and contract review processes.
  • Assess training needs, design training plans, and coordinate employee development initiatives.
  • Facilitate capacity building and succession planning to support organizational growth.
  • Administer payroll inputs, statutory deductions (NHIF, NSSF, PAYE), and benefits programs.
  • Conduct salary benchmarking and support management in maintaining competitive compensation structures.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, personnel files, and HRIS systems.
  • Prepare HR reports (headcount, attrition, leave, disciplinary cases, recruitment pipeline, etc.).
  • Manage staff leave schedules to ensure adequate workforce coverage.
  • Promote a positive organizational culture aligned with the company’s mission and values.
  • Develop employee engagement and wellness initiatives.
  • Organize team-building and recognition programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CHRP (K) certification preferred.
  • Member of IHRM Kenya (in good standing).
  • 3–5 years’ progressive experience in HR generalist roles, preferably in financial services, microcredit, or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics
