The Role:

As Head of IT & Infrastructure, you’ll own the company’s IT architecture, infrastructure, and system security, ensuring our systems operate smoothly and securely at scale. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership to ensure our technology environment supports business growth, operational efficiency, and innovation.

Please note this role requires the candidate to be onsite at our headquarters in Nairobi.

What You’ll Do:

• Define and execute the IT & infrastructure strategy to support rapid growth.
• Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing IT team.
• Manage cloud and on-premises infrastructure, networks, servers, and endpoints.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of systems.
• Lead IT projects, including cloud migrations, system upgrades, and new technology adoption.
• Oversee cybersecurity, data protection, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Develop, implement, and enforce IT policies and best practices, including security protocols, acceptable use, backup and recovery, and system maintenance standards.
• Provide oversight for general IT support functions, including helpdesk,troubleshooting, and hardware/software maintenance.
• Collaborate with business and product teams to implement technology solutions that drive real-world impact.
• Stay ahead of trends in IT infrastructure, cloud, and security technologies.

What We’re Looking For:

• 8+ years in IT management or infrastructure, with 3+ years in leadership.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree/PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus. Significant industry experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Proven experience scaling IT systems in a fast-growing company.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), networking, servers, and virtualization.
• Hands-on knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and IT compliance requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Passion for building reliable, scalable technology systems.
• Experience overseeing general IT support functions (helpdesk,troubleshooting, hardware/software maintenance) is a plus.
• Advanced/technical English required. French or Mandarin would be a plus.
• Attentive to detail.
