Communications Specialist Job HEVA

Key Responsibilities

Content Development

  • Draft, edit, and proofread content for HEVA platforms, including social media, newsletters, website, and reports.
  • Ensure all content aligns with HEVA’s brand guidelines and voice, while also being able to distinguish and balance program-specific communications and branding.
  • Support the Communications Manager in strengthening thematic messaging acrossall platforms, ensuring that content consistently reflects HEVA’s strategic pillars.
  • Assist in preparing content briefs for designers, photographers, and other creatives.
  • Co-develop and maintain the communications and content calendar with the
  • Communications Manager, ensuring deadlines are tracked and met.

Digital Platforms

  • Support the management of HEVA’s digital platforms (website and social media).
  • Contribute to publishing schedules, community engagement, and performance tracking.
  • Ensure posts, visuals, and stories are consistent with HEVA’s brand identity/program branding and objectives.

Media & PR Support

  • Support the preparation of press kits, media assets, and background materials.
  • Keep records of media coverage.

Event Communications

  • Support communications around HEVA events (before, during, and after).
  • Assist with event coverage (e.g. live posting, content packaging).
  • Ensure any event communication packs are prepared and shared on time.
  • Knowledge Management
  • Contribute to the archiving of communications materials, photos, videos, and publications.
  • Ensure all assets are properly labelled, organised, and stored for future use.

Stakeholder Support

  • Assist in creating communications packs and briefing materials.
  • Support the preparation of presentations and notes for HEVA representatives where necessary.
  • Assist in developing guide documents and organising info sessions for creatives and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., FAQs, “how to apply” guidelines, explainer packs).

Operational Support

  • Keep the communications tracker accurate and updated.
  • Support vendor coordination (designers, photographers, videographers), ensuring briefs and files are complete.
  • Manage approvals and filing for communications materials.
  • Apply the communications checklist (spelling, grammar, brand compliance, etc.) before publishing.

Ideas & Initiative

  • Proactively contribute ideas for outreach, storytelling, and audience engagement.
  • Anticipate communication opportunities around events, partnerships, and sector conversations.
  • Follow through on assigned initiatives end-to-end with consistency and care.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track content performance metrics and contribute to monthly reporting.
  • Assist in documenting impact stories and case studies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in communications or content-related roles.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; an eye for detail.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and analytics.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently, while collaborating closely with the team.
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities to engage effectively with colleagues, partners, and external vendors.
