Ever Been Referred By a Friend to Get a Job? Read To Find Out More

Referrals are often thought to be the proverbial golden tickets of job hunting. While they may not guarantee you a job, they increase the odds that your application will be seen by a potential employer and ultimately give you a boost in the hiring process.

John had been working part time and he wanted a full time job that would enhance his job satisfaction.

John Ng’eno

A friend whose CV had been revamped by us referred him to CSS and he kept checking the daily jobs on our website where he came across the role of Assistant Program Manager we had advertised for our client e-mobilis.

I caught up with him to understand what made him stand out among other candidates who had applied for the same role and here is his story.

Tell us about yourself. What is your professional qualification?

My name is John Kiplangat Ngeno , a master’s degree holder in business administration. I am result-driven project manager with over eight years of experience in implementing youth empowerment programs. I possess excellent project management skills, management skills and leadership skills which has always enabled my team to produce optimum results effectively and efficiently.

How long had you been looking for a job? Reason.

I was actively looking for a job between August and November 2021 because I was doing a part time job and my focus was to get a full time and a more satisfying job.

What has your job search experience been like?

My job search was amazing, thanks to the technology and new job applications platforms available online that has eased the work of the job seekers unlike in the past where we had to drop physical applications in an office for you to be considered for an interview.

Are there any specific challenges you encountered in your job search process?

The key challenge that I encountered during that period was that, covid-19 was still in place and most companies were not hiring. With those that were hiring, most interviews were done virtually which eliminated physical interaction with interviewers.

Where did you hear about Corporate Staffing and the job opportunity? And would you recommend Corporate Staffing to anyone?

I heard about Corporate Staffing two years ago when a friend told me how her curriculum vitae was fine-tuned and managed to apply for a job successfully. I recommend Corporate Staffing to anyone because their interview process is 100% free from biasness.

How was the application and interview process?

The Interview process was very rigorous, objective, fair and free.

Did you think you would get the job?

I had a strong belief that I would get the job since my skills, qualifications and previous experience matched the job requirements.

What do you think employers look or check when selecting suitable candidates?

I think employers are keen on the hard skills and soft skills, previous experience, attitude to learn the new skills and adapt to the organization culture and requirements.

Many professionals continue to look for jobs, what is your advice to them?

My advice is to keep applying for the jobs that they are competent in so that they increase their chances of being shortlisted and sail through the interview process. It is also important for them to seek advice from CSS to be guided on how to write a CV, how to prepare for the interview and the skills they need to develop for them to advance their career.
