Position: Quality Controller – Avocados
Location: Eastern Bypass, Nairobi.
Salary Range: 50K -60K
Our client is a leading Hass Avocado producer and exporter in East Africa. We are seeking a highly skilled Quality controller to ensure that the avocado fruits meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards.
- Oversee compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, BRC, ISO 22000, etc.).
- Lead and mentor the QC team, ensuring efficient workflows and training.
- Monitor production processes, resolve quality issues, and reduce waste.
- Conduct internal and external audits, manage corrective actions, and maintain documentation.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality standards.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and export requirements.
- Investigate quality-related incidents and customer complaints.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Management, Horticulture, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food processing quality control (preferably fresh/frozen produce).
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, BRC, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000).
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Experience with avocado processing and export compliance is an advantage.
- Certification in food safety or quality management (e.g., HACCP, ISO Lead Auditor) is a plus.
