Kikwetu Flowers Limited, a leading player in the floriculture industry, is seeking to recruit a highly competent, results-driven, and experienced Packhouse Manager to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all packhouse and post-harvest operations from intake to dispatch, ensuring the quality and preservation of all flowers.
  • Maintain cold chain integrity, ensuring all cold rooms and trucks operate at the required temperatures and humidity.
  • Enforce high standards of hygiene, including daily cleaning, disinfection, and safe handling of flowers.
  • Manage grading and quality control, ensuring product consistency and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Implement FIFO and labeling systems for cold store stock management.
  • Coordinate flower bunching, packing, box assembly, and documentation accuracy.
  • Conduct vase-life tests and report regularly on product quality performance.
  • Lead, train, and motivate packhouse teams to achieve operational targets and maintain discipline and morale.
  • Work closely with the Production and Sales teams to manage inventory levels and plan dispatch effectively.
  • Ensure adequate labor and packaging materials, especially during high-demand periods (e.g., Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, Women’s Day).
  • Prepare and submit timely daily, weekly, and monthly reports on graded, ungraded, and rejected stems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Floriculture, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ proven experience as Packhouse Manager within the Flower industry/Horticulture industry.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with industry certifications (e.g., Global GAP, MPS, Fairtrade) will be an added advantage.
