Lecturer Job M.P. Shah Hospital Nairobi, Kenya
Job Purpose
- The overall purpose of a Lecturer is to deliver high-quality education and training to nursing students. This role involves teaching theoretical and practical nursing courses, mentoring students, participating in curriculum development, and contributing to the academic community through research and service activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and Instruction – Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical demonstrations on various nursing topics, develop and update course materials including syllabi, lesson plans and assessments, and use a variety of teaching methods to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.
- Curriculum Development – Participate in the design, review and revision of nursing curricula to ensure alignment with current best practices and industry standards, and collaborate with colleagues to integrate innovative teaching strategies and technologies into the curriculum.
- Student Support and Mentorship – Provide academic advice and mentorship to nursing students, supporting their educational and professional development, and assist students with research projects, clinical placements, and preparation for licensure exams.
- Assessment and Evaluation – Develop and administer assessments, including exams, quizzes and practical evaluations, to measure student learning and performance, and provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their progress.
- Research and Scholarship – Engage in scholarly activities including research, publication and presentations at professional conferences, and stay current with developments in the field of nursing and incorporate new knowledge into teaching practice.
- Service and Professional Development – Participate in departmental, college and university committees and initiatives, engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and nursing knowledge, and contribute to community outreach and service activities that promote the nursing profession.
- Compliance and Accreditation – Ensure that all teaching activities comply with institutional policies, accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, and assist in the preparation and submission of documentation for programme accreditation and reviews.

Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Must have a valid licensure from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring learners.
- Knowledge in research methodologies.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Previous teaching experience in a nursing education programme preferred.
- Knowledge in sustainability and green initiatives will be an added advantage.
