Instructor (Public Health) Job Alupe University

Responsible for supervising nursing students during clinical rotations, coordinating student-patient assignments, teaching clinical procedures, providing classroom and simulation instruction, evaluating students’ clinical work, maintaining clinical standards, participating in faculty and professional development activities, and addressing students’ clinical concerns. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, at least three years’ clinical practice experience, a valid practising licence. The position is based in Busia and requires on-site work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or Environmental Health from a recognized and accredited institution.
• Hold a valid and current Practicing License from the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council (PHOTC).
• Registered member of the Association of Public Health Officers – Kenya (APHOK) in good standing.
• Technical & Operational Skills Required: Practical demonstration & instruction, environmental & diagnostic testing, WASH & vector control operations, equipment maintenance & SOP management.
• Demonstrate merit and ability in facilitating practical demonstrations, managing laboratory equipment, or supervising students in an academic or training setup.
• Proven track record in executing field-based public health interventions, food inspections, or environmental monitoring.
• Proficiency in computer applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, set up, and facilitate practical experiments, skills lab sessions, and field demonstrations for public health trainees.
• Conduct microbiological, physical, and chemical analysis of water, soil, effluent, and food samples.
• Monitor water quality, sanitation technology applications, pest/vector surveillance, and disease control protocols.
• Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and manage inventories for laboratory/field equipment, as well as author and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Practical assessment and alignment with institutional and regulatory curricula (including competency-based rubrics).
• Supervise students on field attachment and industrial practicum.
• Facilitate practical demonstrations and management of laboratory equipment, food inspections, or environmental monitoring.
