Industry: Dairy Processing Company
Gross salary: Ksh. 35,000- Ksh. 45,000

Job Purpose

To ensure that all raw milk sourced from farmers and collection centers meets the required quality, safety, and hygiene standards before processing, in line with company policies and Kenya Dairy Board requirements.

Key responsibilities

Milk Quality Monitoring

  • Test raw milk at collection centers for quality parameters such as adulteration, antibiotic residues, fat and SNF content.
  • Reject or flag substandard milk according to set quality standards.

Farm & Collection Center Inspections

  • Conduct regular visits to dairy farms and milk collection centers.
  • Assess hygiene practices in milking procedures, milk handling and storage and equipment cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with dairy quality standards and regulations.

Farmer Training & Support

  • Train farmers on proper milk hygiene, safe milk handling and storage, disease prevention in dairy animals.
  • Promote best practices to improve milk quality.

Sample Collection & Documentation

  • Collect milk samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, rejected milk and field inspection reports.
  • Prepare and submit periodic quality reports.

Compliance & Standards Enforcement

  • Ensure adherence to Company and Kenya Dairy Board quality assurance protocols
  • Support audits and inspections when required.

Traceability & Issue Resolution

  • Track milk quality issues back to source (farm or collection center).
  • Work with farmers and Milk Graders to resolve quality problems.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Coordination

Liaise with Quality control team at the factory, Extension Officers and Logistics team to ensure production of quality dairy products.
Ensure smooth flow of quality-compliant milk to the factory.
Supervision
In charge of the Milk Graders both in the routes and collection centers.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Dairy Technology/ Food Science or related field.
  • 5 years experience in dairy operations or quality control.
  • Valid motorcycle rider’s license
  • Knowledge of milk testing procedures and quality standards.
  • Strong communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work in the field and travel frequently
  • Basic data recording and reporting skills.
