Tell us about yourself.

I am a client-focused HR professional with seven years of experience working in a private limited company, a producer of fresh produce, and a non-denominational Christian organization.

Expertise in implementing HR policies, practices, and offering HR solutions in line with the company’s priorities.

I am competent in the day-to-day operations and the overall achievement of the functions and objectives, effective in the development of administrative structures, processes, systems internal controls, and succession plans.

I have demonstrated success in developing department goals, objectives, and systems as well as maintaining organizational charts and employee directories implementing and annually updating the compensation program.

How long have you been looking for a job?

I had worked for over 6 years and I was motivated by the desire to seek diverse and more challenging roles to expose me to a new perspective. I signed up for the CSS database where I received alerts of the roles that were relevant to my field.

What has your job search experience been like?

I can say it was a journey of exploration because my goal was to get diverse jobs that would expose me to new experiences.

Are there any specific challenges you encountered in your job search process?

Did you think you would get the job?

Yes. I was confident because I met all the qualifications and during the pre-screening process, I felt that I was the right candidate that the employer was looking for.

What do you think employers look for or check when selecting suitable candidates?

Besides the skills, employers look for the right attitude from the candidates.

Most skills can be taught and learnt, but no one can be taught attitude.

I can say that for you to succeed in your job search, position yourself as the best candidate in the job market.

Avoid job hopping because it can disorient you since it is a red flag to employers not unless you have a good reason to leave your current workplace.

What do you think is the secret to getting a job in this competitive market?

Have the right attitude, start from the lowest level to prepare you for successful career journey. Never limit yourself to the job description, go an extra mile in the assigned deliverables to set yourself up for success in your career.

Be open-minded and smart in your job search, get ahead of yourself by learning new skills, and have a positive mindset.
