The job holder is responsible for the total value chain of Talent Management and Learning and Development within EAREG Countries (Kenya, Ouganda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Sudan, South Sudan).

He/she contributes to the success of the organisation through the establishment of strong internal and external talent pipelines and the systematic leadership development and promotion of high performing employees as well as ensuring the delivery of functional training and development.
He/She will also coordinate, consolidate, and manage delivery of all Talent and Development initiatives, metrics, and execution.

  • Developing, managing, and monitoring coaching/training programs for key people.
  • Create and execute organizational talent and development related strategies through analysing external trends and best practices for talent and development that AGL should adopt.
  • Support to create a culture that fosters performance excellence, personal investment, and commitment among teams.
  • Driving the implementation of the leadership development, in anticipation of need, including career paths, learning pathways, competency definition, critical learning interventions and systems.
  • Implement talent initiatives across employee life cycle.
  • Ensuring there is an attractive employee value proposition aligned with organizational objectives to support employee retention.
  • Building and proactively managing talent pipelines to fulfil resourcing and succession needs.
  • Effective induction and orientation & deployment of new staff
  • Ensuring innovative learning and development policies and programs are implemented that focus attention on developing the requisite skills (including a monitoring mechanism)
  • Designing an approach for development of talent, in line with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy.
  • Responsible for creating a culture that fosters performance excellence, personal investment, and commitment among teams. Creating a culture of self-learning in the organization by leveraging the learning platforms such as LinkedIn Learning, e-learning etc.
  • Effectively and actively managing external partnerships with campuses, job boards and recruitment partners.
  • Planning and implementing annual learning calendar & development plans aligned with annual career committee report.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or equivalent
  • 6 years’ experience in a Human Resources corporate or consulting environment with at least 6 years focused on working in talent acquisition and assessment
  • Change catalyst, Talent pipeline management and acquisition;
  • Performance management and Leadership development.
  • Must possess excellent skills in the areas of coaching and mentoring, project management, vendor management, strategic thinking and problem solving.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment
