Location: Ngara, Nairobi
Start Date: Immediate
Work Schedule: 6 days a week (including weekends), full-time

Direct Reports: Sales Attendants & Support Staff

About the Brand

Kidole is an apparel brand specialising in volume-driven production of branded clothing – from sports

t-shirts to hoodies and college jackets. With in-house manufacturing and a strong customer base, Kidole is launching its first retail outlet to serve walk-in customers, business buyers, and institutions with speed and consistency.

This retail shop serves as a sales point and a channel for high-volume transactions, fast feedback, and operational efficiency.

Role Summary

The Shop Manager will lead all aspects of a high-volume cash-and-carry store, ensuring that stock moves quickly, customers are served efficiently, and the shop runs with tight discipline. The role demands strong inventory control, clear reporting, and daily coordination with production to match supply to demand in real-time.

The Shop Manager will also play a critical role in capturing customer buying patterns and informing product adjustments based on sales data and in-store feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Volume Sales & Customer Flow

  • Oversee a retail floor with footfall and appointment-based clients
  • Implement systems to reduce customer waiting time and maximise output
  • Ensure the team is trained on accuracy and upselling tactics
  • Track sales volumes, average basket size, and repeat buyer patterns

Store Operations

  • Ensure store is organized for quick movement of goods and customers
  • Maintain clear signage, proper display of high-demand SKUs, and organised checkout areas
  • Enforce opening, closing, and cash-up protocols without fail
  • Lead the setup of efficient in-store logistics and backroom flow

Stock & Inventory Management

  • Monitor fast vs. slow-moving SKUs daily; flag surpluses or gaps early
  • Coordinate restocking directly with the production team to avoid sell-outs or overstock
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and reduce losses through tight controls
  • Ensure that display stock and back stock are rotated correctly

Production & Product Feedback Loop

  • Share real-time sales insights with production to inform reorders and production prioritisation
  • Relay consistent customer feedback on sizing, fabric, fit, or requests
  • Participate in testing new product batches through front-of-shop sales performance
  • Provide weekly structured reports on product movement and retail insights

Staff Supervision & Cash Control

  • Supervise support staff (cashiers, loaders, and shop assistants)
  • Set daily targets and monitor staff performance around speed and accuracy
  • Oversee cash handling, end-of-day reconciliation, and sales reporting
  • Train new staff on volume sales techniques and stock handling procedures

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience or proven ability to manage or supervise a high volume retail outlet or wholesale shop.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership both to direct reports and other departments – management, production, support staff.
  • Highly organised, systems-oriented, and able to manage stock tightly
  • Able to lead a small team in a structured, efficient work environment
  • Strong analytical ability to draw insights from sales trends and customer behaviour
  • Apparel, branded merchandise, or FMCG retail experience is a plus
