Role Purpose

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. This role involves strategic planning, operational execution, adherence to corporate governance and regulatory compliance, fostering a culture of excellence, and providing leadership in the network domain.

Main Responsibilities

Strategy:

  • Develop and implement the organization’s network strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and architect scalable and secure network solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance network capabilities and recommend adoption strategies.


Operational:

  • Configure, install, and maintain network hardware and software components.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Implement security measures and protocols to safeguard the network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party providers to ensure efficient network operation.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including configurations, policies, and procedures.


Corporate Governance (Regulatory and Compliance):

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to network infrastructure.
  • Implement and enforce network security policies to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with internal and external regulations.

Leadership and Culture:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the network team.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote a collaborative and solutions-oriented culture.

Key Deliverables

  • Network uptime and availability.
  • Timely resolution of network-related issues.
  • Successful implementation of network projects.
  • Compliance with regulatory and security standards.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, including Systems Administrators and Security Analysts.
  • Interact with external vendors and service providers.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand business requirements.

Key Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and best practices.
  • Proficient in the configuration and management of routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Experience with network security, including intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.

Relevant Experience

  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer, with a track record of successful project implementation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the industry.
