Assistant General Manager- Commercial Banking Job.

This role entails delivering exceptional Commercial banking growth across the region through the provision of efficient business development, customer retention & operational efficiency.

The role holder is the primary relationship owner for all Commercial banking relationships across the region and will directly manage key accounts in their respective portfolios.

Customer acquisition, satisfaction, growth, retention and prevention of business loss are critical to succeed in this role including technical support and guidance to the regional SME business teams. This role will be responsible for generation of business pipeline while ensuring timely preparation and submission of credit papers, annual reviews, and portfolio reports.

Key focus areas will include oversight over client engagement, account plans, call reports, marketing activities, credit, transactional banking, global markets, investment banking, business solutions and overall customer satisfaction for clients in their portfolio.

Proactively engage with internal support teams to ensure customer fulfilment with strict adherence to all policy requirements including proper documentation, routine portfolio monitoring, controls and exemptions management (compliance with credit, AML/KYC requirements)

Actively coach and guide the client service officers and other key stakeholders in aid of their achievement of performance targets and career progression. Relevant experience in the specific sector will be an added advantage.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

Output Financial 45

  • Formulate and execute sales plans/strategies aimed at identifying and attracting new loans and deposits clients to the bank and increasing the share of wallet from existing customers.
  • Develop a clear aggressive sales pipeline for both existing and potential customers while ensuring to file all call reports with the Head of Commercial Banking.
  • Collaborating and coordinating the development and implementation of sales initiatives with the Regional General Manger and Branch Managers to maximize on selling opportunities.
  • Monitor market conditions and trends and constantly give feedback to the Head of Commercial Banking and Head of Retail Product Development.
  • Develop a strong customer relationship management system aimed at customer retention and maximizing every relationship.

Internal business processes 40

  • Ensure that Bank’s Credit Policy is always adhered to in granting facilities
  • Ensure all KYC & AML processes are followed with regards to new business and proper documentation is in place
  • Review all information, documentation and loan application package obtained from the applicant for adequacy, completeness and compliance with all Commercial Banking requirements.
  • Contribute to the loan decision-making process by providing in-depth, high-quality credit analysis and comprehensive loan write up for presentation to the Credit Committee for review.
  • Review and manage Non-sufficient Fund(NSF) Report to ensure no loss arises from operational lapses and ensure compliance with operations risk requirements
  • Manage the portfolio at risk within the bank’s acceptable ratios.
  • Obtain the security documentation and other requirements stipulated in the loan approvals to facilitate perfection of security documentation and loan disbursement.
  • Client visits and unit inspections where there is lending to monitor the utilization of the loan proceeds and explore other opportunities of increasing the wallet share.

  • Execute focused relationship management and sales strategies that will result in increased revenue, profit, share of wallet and contain PAR within Bank guidelines.
  • Identifying customer needs not met by existing products and propose the implementation of new products and services
  • Utilize the customer relationship management system aimed at customer acquisition, retention and maximizing on every relationship.
  • Develop and continuously review the account plans and customer growth plans.

Qualifications

Academic:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business related field.
  • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage

Professional:

  • Professional Qualification CPA, ACCA, Credit Management, Customer Relationship Management Course.

Desired work experience:

  • Above 10 years’ banking experience in sales, customer service and relationship management, 5 of which should have been in a senior management capacity within SME, Commercial & Corporate Banking.
  • Credit skills and knowledge of Commercial Banking products and policies.
  • In-depth knowledge of the local banking industry, banking products, banking services and banking regulations. Sound working knowledge and understanding of general Commercial Banking regulations and practices.
