Succeeding In Your Career Above 35 Years: What does it take to succeed and advance in your career after age 35? Do you often wonder what strategies successful professionals have implemented?

I recently met John, a 37-year-old professional who was recently retrenched, having worked at a leading bank for over ten years. The redundancy came as a shock to him. He felt that he was too young to be retrenched and, worse, has had difficulty finding a job. His banking skills and experience are no longer in high demand, making it complicated.

He’s also found that employers now prefer younger employees as they feel they are more tech-savvy and teachable. The younger workforce is also ready and willing to take half of what John was earning. Many employers consider John too expensive.

Unfortunately, in the last 15 years, we have seen many companies retrenching people as young as John.
