Tell us about yourself.

I am an optimistic, energetic, and dedicated administration professional with 7 years of experience working in a manufacturing company in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering industry.  I have gained experience in procurement, and office administration supporting office operations as well as Human Resources, exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to examine and understand business/employee needs.

How long had you been looking for a job?

I had been looking for a job for around 8 months because I wanted a different type of environment to work where my skills and ideas would be implemented for the betterment of the organization and my satisfactory accomplishments.

What has your job search experience been like?

The search was never smooth, with a couple of rejections from different companies and some did not respond and that killed my morale thinking why they didn’t consider me but since that was not helpful, I had to let it go, dusted myself, and focused on applying for other roles.

Are there any specific challenges you encountered in your job search process?

Well, learning how to present myself as the best candidate because of the stiff competition and different employers having different needs of the vacancy as the many candidates competing for the same role it was not easy to know the best way to stand out.

Where did you hear about Corporate Staffing and the job opportunity? And would you recommend Corporate Staffing to anyone?

I knew about CSS through a friend who was using CSS for recruitment services. The company I worked for by then needed recruitment services and that is where I built the relationship with CSS, and eventually, I ended up applying for one of the jobs on their website, which I got. I would recommend CSS to individuals and companies seeking any services.

How was the application and interview process?

It was straightforward, communication was very open and most importantly timely feedback from CSS was impeccable.

Did you think you would get the job? 

The competition was stiff and I was not sure if I would stand out, but I believed in myself and put my best forward during the process.

What do you think employers look for or check when selecting suitable candidates?

Employers are on the lookout for talented candidates with relevant experience, confidence, and most importantly attitude towards work.

A candidate might have the expertise but if they have a negative attitude towards the job, they are unlikely to be considered for various roles.

Many professionals continue to look for jobs in this competitive job market. What is your advice to them?

Research the company to understand the needs of the employer and how your experience and skills resonate with what they are looking for. This will help position you as the best candidate by demonstrating the value you will bring on board if you are selected.

What do you think is the secret to getting a job in this competitive market?

Giving up should never be an option, apply for as many jobs as possible, especially those for you that meet the requirements. The job market is competitive but identify what can make you unique to be able to stand out.

If you were to speak to any professional out there, what is one thing you would tell them to do to succeed this 2023?

Be hopeful and understand that every day is a learning experience with its own challenges and be ready to face them.

Lastly, be kind to others and yourself especially when you don’t get what you expected.
