How Can You Become an HR Superhero? 6 Ways

What comes to your mind when you hear superheroes?

Perhaps, powerful gods, or extraordinary people who have done extraordinary things.

It is their humanity that drives us to watch their videos or read their comics. Their stories draw our attention because they act responsibly with strength.

As an HR professional, you are an agent and hero of change in the company. You act and expect no praise while handling the employees’ concerns

For you to be a superhero in HR, you should be updated with changes by diversifying your portfolio of human resources skills and competencies to enhance your HR practices.

So how can you become an HR superhero?

Here’s how.

1. Accept The Responsibility and Stop Giving Out Excuses

‘With great power comes great responsibility.

Do not give an excuse why you could not perform a task. If there is a responsibility that you feel you don’t have the skills to do, do not wait for others to do it. Grab the opportunity, learn and you will perform better. When things go wrong, do not blame others, accept and work towards improving. Take challenges and mistakes as learning opportunities.

2. Take Charge and Lead

Superheroes do not wait for others to step up, they do and take charge. Aim at getting things by assessing the situation, taking initiative without taking control, perform tasks on behalf of the group. When no one is willing to do something, be available to do it. Doing this allows you to be viewed as a superhero for taking the initiative and you will understand how things are done.

3. Team Up and Consult Others for Help

Superheroes understand that coming together is the begging of success because nobody is an island. Accomplishing success cannot be done by one person. Superheroes join hands with others and this allows you to learn from others especially the experienced professionals. Ultimately, you will bring an impact to an organization.

4. Over-Deliver in Your Personal Relationships

Developing your HR skills allows you to balance relationships. Superheroes understand how to balance work and personal lives. Create a good relationship with others, interact with them and make them feel good. Appreciate others and do not entertain people who waste your time.

5. Know When to Say Yes and When to Say No

As an HR, sometimes you will have more tasks than you cannot complete within the set timeline. Do not bite what you cannot chew. If you know you won’t complete a task, do not commit yourself to every work that is to be done. Delegate some duties to others because if you accept every task, you will be draining yourself and you will be productive in your work. Balance your work and work on them based on their urgency and importance.

6. Have Clear Goals and Vision of Success

Superheroes set measurable goals and they understand how to work towards achieving those goals.

Move out of your comfort zone, grow your network, apply for higher positions, look for mentors and be consistent with what you do.

Finally,

HR professionals are unsung heroes of the organizations. Some may not notice the work done by HR professionals towards making the organization better but they are great heroes in the company. Working towards being a superhero may be tough at the initial stages but you should be consistent for you to achieve desired results.
