How Social Media Got Me A Job Through CSS

Are you tired of applying for job after job and getting nowhere?

What is the probability of you getting a job through LinkedIn?

On the face of it, LinkedIn may simply seem like an online CV – but on a platform where scores of employers are looking for prime candidates every day, it’s a pretty useful CV to have.

That is how Kennedy Muriungi saw this Sales & Marketing job we had advertised for our client, Pernod Ricard on LinkedIn. He applied and got the job!

Here is his story:

Tell us about yourself.

I am a focused and vibrant Sales and Marketing Professional with extensive experience in the Automotive, Banking and FCMG industries and proficiency in business development and distribution management.

How long had you been looking for a job?

Although I was still working at the time, I was actively looking for a job. I wanted something different.

What has your job search experience been like?

Kennedy Muriungi

It was difficult.

A lot of regrets came in and at times, it would become harder to keep my head in the job search game.

I also found it strange that many companies don’t give job seekers feedback. You don’t know whether you should move on or keep waiting, and for how long.

Where did you hear about Corporate Staffing and the job opportunity?

I had heard about Corporate Staffing through one of the companies I worked for previously. I was not actively job searching then, so I didn’t think much about it.

I got to know about the job opportunity through LinkedIn.

How was the application and interview process?

The application was easy. I did it through LinkedIn and wasn’t sure I would get a call because this was new to me. I applied on a Thursday and got a call on Tuesday.

The interviewers factored my schedule when setting the interview date and the discussion went well. It was very specific to the role and it prepared me for what to expect when meeting the client. I felt that Corporate Staffing knew the client well. It was a different experience but not intimidating at all. They just wanted to know me better and I enjoyed it all.

The client interview was tough, but I felt well prepared from Corporate Staffing. The best thing was that even at the client interview, there was someone from Corporate Staffing in the room. I felt like they were walking with me.

After the interview, did you think you would get the job?

I felt I was confident during the second interview, but not enough to be sure I would get the job.

Many professionals continue to apply for jobs during this tough time. What is your advice to them?

Know what you want. Target your applications well when applying. Don’t apply without knowing where your CV is going. Also, trust recruiters. I would recommend Corporate Staffing any time.

Even after I got the job, they still walked with me to find out how I was settling in.
