A well-known company recently set out to hire over 200 people on the spot in preparation for their launch of a new product.
You have to admit, it gets you thinking: If you had the opportunity to apply for a job today, would you be ready?
I won’t fault you if the answer is no.
That’s probably because you imagine that you’ll take the time to update your CV the next time you’re on the hunt for a new position.
Except, it doesn’t always happen that way. Maybe you bump into an old contact at an event who tells you their team is hiring and you should send over your CV. Or maybe, you’re passively browsing job postings and see your dream job with a 5 PM application deadline.
That’s how Anne Ayoti saw an HR job we had advertised for our client, Ombi Rubber Rollers. She immediately applied and got the job!
Here is her story:
Tell us about yourself.
I am an HR professional who has always wanted to work in a dynamic organization that will build my skills and experience, broaden my scope and allows upward growth of my ideas and contribution to serving the community. I love learning.
How long had you been looking for a job?
I had been looking for a job for over 6 months.
The company I had been working for closed because of the pandemic and we, the employees, had to be let go before the closure.
What has your job search experience been like?
It was hard.
Job searching is not a joke. Having lost a job during the pandemic and then looking for another while still dealing with an unstable economy, made it even harder.
So many of my applications went unanswered which made it hard to move on because I would still find myself waiting.
I would try making other applications but nothing seemed to be working.
Where did you hear about Corporate Staffing and the job opportunity?
I got to know about Corporate Staffing after doing an online search. At the time, I was employed and stable. I did not think much about using it.
Later, when I threw myself into the job search pool, I would constantly check the CSS website for daily jobs.
How was the application and interview process?
The application was easy. I sent my application to the email address provided on the job description and was called the same day. I attended the first interview and then had the second interview with the client.
After the interview, did you think you would get the job?
I was driven by hope. You know as an interviewee, you want the best, but it could go either way.
Many professionals continue to apply for jobs during this tough time. What is your advice to them?
Apply for jobs on the same day and go through Corporate Staffing because it’s real. There’s no money you will need to pay at any stage.
Truth is, opportunities don’t always come open on your timeline, and having your papers up to date means you can take advantage of them. All the best!N.B: 1.Dont Miss Out On Your Next Job.
