How Can You Grow Your Career To The Next Level? CSS Presents On Career Development
This past Saturday, Corporate Staffing Services was invited to the Career Development Workshop hosted for professionals and job seekers. The workshop was hosted and held at the Brighter Monday Offices.
Perminus Wainaina -the Managing Partner at Corporate Staffing Services and a Certified Career Coach, was among the key speakers for the workshop.
Perminus spoke about new collar jobs –emerging jobs, such as digital marketing. He spoke of the skills you need in order to position yourself for the evolving market.
Second, he also spoke about career discovery. He shared how he discovered his passion for HR when he was working as an accountant. He encouraged the professionals that it’s okay to discover the career you want to take, even when you’re in another career, at whichever stage you are. Continually, he advised that once you realize the field career path you’re passionate about, you should then take actionable steps to transition into the career.
Third, he shared insights on the importance of building relationships and networks –both personally and professionally. “Over 40% of jobs are not advertised. When you create professional relationships and improve on your networking skills, you’ll know about the jobs that aren’t advertised from your networks.”
Fourth, Perminus trained on the importance of building soft skills when looking to build your career or get a job. He shared the important soft skills each professional should have. These skills include effective communication skills, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills.
He also shared on the various trainings CSS is offering to the fresh professionals in different professional areas. These trainings include Customer Care and Service Training, Practical Accounting Training and Career Mentorship, and Sales and Marketing Training.
Fifth, he shared the importance of taking targeted short courses to help gain the skills to take your career to the next level.
Finally, Perminus talked about having an exit strategy. He said as a professional, you should always have another plan in case your current employment doesn’t work out. Additionally, he shared of how you should have an exit strategy after fulfilling your objectives at a company or position.
After the presentation, Perminus was part of the panel and engaged the audience in an exhaustive Q&A.
